Project: Help point for Ukrainian war refugees in Jekabpils region
Association "Vidusdaugava NGO Center" from May to October 2022 has implemented the project "Help point for Ukrainian war refugees in Jekabpils region", which was submitted to the project competition #2 "Action projects" of the Active Residents Fund as an urgent solution to the crisis situation caused by the war in Ukraine and its the resulting refugee flow.
During the project, the environmental improvement of the help point created by the society was improved, making it more comfortable for visitors. As the amount of household goods, clothing, and shoes donated by residents increased, 9 volunteers were involved in sorting and placing them in purchased shelves, boxes and delivering them to specific points in Jēkabpils region and elsewhere. The launch of the help desk was promoted with an open day and accompanying campaign.
The implementation of the project has made it possible to better coordinate the assistance provided to the refugees of the Ukrainian war in the Jēkabpils region. A certain system has been created, in which everyone can get involved based on simple and understandable principles.
The total funding of the project is EUR 9990.19, which was 100% financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norwegian grant program "Active Population Fund".
